KATIE BHAR JACOBSEN | DIRECTOR-AT-LARGE
Katie Bhar Jacobsen (she/they) is a passionate advocate for the inclusion of folks with intellectual disabilities in community, in school, and in the paid workforce. Having a brother-in-law with an intellectual disability, and having previously worked with Inclusion Alberta’s inclusive post-secondary education initiative, they have an unwavering commitment to inclusion. Her and her husband, Jason, live in Edmonton and have previously gone through Inclusion Alberta’s Family Leadership Series in hopes of building a great future for Jason’s brother, Matthew. They are both especially interested in thinking about the role of siblings and other extended family members in the movement for inclusion, as well as alternatives to paid companionship. Katie brings an intersectional lens to her advocacy, having experience working with queer youth, the d/Deaf community, and newcomers to Canada. Outside of her passion for inclusion, Katie is an avid reader, writer, motorcyclist, and hockey fan.
